how to factory reset an iphone 5

have an i phone 5, got the i phone onto the i phone to the setup screen, but when i set everything up, it has an "activation lock" and i cant get in. when i try to do the i tunes reset thing, at the very end it needs me to imput the activation lock for i tunes.
